The Bible speaks about jealousy in two very different ways—and it’s important not to confuse them:

1. Sinful jealousy (envy, insecurity, comparison) → warned against
2. Godly jealousy (protective, covenant love) → sometimes righteous
3. Galatians 5:19-21
   “…jealousy… fits of rage… envy… those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
4. James 3:16
   “For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.”
5. Proverbs 14:30
   “A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.”
6. Exodus 34:14
   “Do not worship any other god, for the Lord… is a jealous God.”
7. 2 Corinthians 11:2
   “I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy…”
8. Philippians 4:11-12
   “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.”
9. Romans 12:15
   “Rejoice with those who rejoice…”
10. 1 Peter 2:1
    “Rid yourselves of… envy…”
